About

Dinotech is how I see myself.  I’m a 50+ year old programmer who started out learning 1st generation software techniques (machine language written in Octal or Hexadecimal instruction sets), started programming with 2nd generation software (Stuff that doesn’t get compiled but is executed by interpretation, like Basic or BAL), made my career by writing 3rd generation software (Compiled software like COBOL and FORTRAN) and now living in the World of 4th generation software (Software that is written by click and go front-ends or WYSIWYG editors).  This is my first Blog site and I’ve got to say it is really a stretch from the “old” days of storing software on paper tape.

I’d like to try to relate experiences I’ve had over the span of my career and hopefully help others in their understanding of how we got where we are today and maybe even provide a nudge into the future, if that’s possible.

Well, here goes.  Let’s see where this takes us.
